Eye Disease Treatment

Changes in Nova Scotia health care legislation in the year 2000 have resulted in enhanced patient care at Insight Optometry. With the cooperation of Nova Scotia Eye Surgeons, Family Doctors and Pharmacists, improved scope of practice for Optometrists in Nova Scotia became a reality. The treatment of external eye diseases by your eye doctors will be facilitated by a wider scope of therapeutic medications to assist in helping you.

You can now feel even more confident to contact us for care any time you experience red eyes, pain, allergies, discharge from your eyes, or sudden vision loss/change.

Laser Vision Correction Consultations

Laser vision correction (PRK & LASIK) are permanent procedures that can change the way you view the world. The front surface of the eye is gently reshaped using a cool ultraviolet beam of light. This reshaping helps the eye focus properly; therefore, reducing or eliminating the need for corrective eyewear. Generally, the laser removes less than the thickness of one human hair from the cornea. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis at a laser centre. The laser can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, and most people return to normal activities within one to three days. The vast majority of patients who have had the procedure are able to pass driver’s test without glasses or contacts.
